1957 74,xxx Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone. Here is a 5-digit Mark VI in incredible condition. The pads are in new condition and have metal domed resonators, similar in appearance and tonal characteristics to what this sax would have originally had from the factory. The neck is original to the horn and has a matching serial number. It's in excellent condition and has never been bent down. Surprisingly, I believe that the sax doesn't have the original finish, although it's incredibly tough to tell for sure. The engraving is very crisp and clear, and the color is the correct hue for the vintage. I think many would be convinced otherwise, but to play it safe, we are calling this non-original lacquer. The sax comes in the original Chesterfield case which is in excellent condition. Sonically, this horn is everything you could ask for in a 5-digit tenor. The response is quick and the horn plays with ease from top to bottom. The sound is beautiful -- full and rich with a singing tone that is indicative of early 5-digit tenors. This is an incredible looking and playing sax.
