Brilhart Metal Plate Tenor Saxophone Streamline Ligature, Fits Alto Sax HR

Sale price$ 795.00

Vintage Brilhart metal plate ligature from the 1940's/1950's. This one arrived with a Streamline Made by Brilhart tenor mouthpiece, and it's the desirable size because it fits most hard rubber alto saxophone mouthpieces. I've tried it on several different alto brands and vintages, and if I didn't know how it arrived, I could easily be convinced that it's originally sized for alto mouthpieces.

My guess is that this was the whole idea behind the Streamline tenor mouthpiece: a tenor piece with a body about the size of a normal alto mouthpiece. That would explain the fit.

This is the same design as the AB/BB ligatures, but with a different screw head design. What makes these ligatures so popular is the thick brass construction and the metal plate that comes into contact with the reed.

The ligature stamped ST for Streamline Tenor, and both screw ends are stamped "T".
