1924 Martin Handcraft soprano saxophone, s/n 48152, in silver plate. The silver plating is 100% intact, including on the typical wear points like the palm keys, thumb rests and right hand side keys. It was serviced in 2026, and the pads are in great condition and seal well.
Martin Handcraft sopranos from the 1920s have a devoted following, and for good reason. They have a mellow, warm sound with a thick, resonant core that no modern soprano quite matches. Many players who have owned one consider it the best sounding vintage soprano ever made, and Bob Wilber played one for years. The palm keys are also well placed, with the tone holes drawn on the side of the horn rather than in line with the upper stack the way they are on a Selmer Mark VI. This makes the upper register much more comfortable than on many other older sopranos.
