Purple label Yamaha YAS-62 alto saxophone, s/n 4055. This sax was just serviced by my repairman, so it's playing great from top to bottom. It's in great shape overall. The neck has never been bent down and the bell flare is perfect. There are no resoldered areas.
This is a fairly early purple label era alto. I really like how this one plays. It has an assertive, bright tone that reminds me more of a Mark VI than a 2023 vintage YAS-62. I think it's this reason why these horns are so popular. You get Yamaha's manufacturing prowess and consistency, on an outstanding jazz and all around saxophone. These are only increasing in popularity and value, so it's a good time to acquire this excellent vintage saxophone before more musicians discover them.
