1938 27,xxx Selmer Balanced Action (BA) Tenor Saxophone
1938 Selmer Balanced Action tenor saxophone, s/n 27362. Here's a great playing vintage Selmer tenor. It has a gorgeous sound with incredible warmth and depth. It's easy to play in all registers, and the low end speaks effortlessly.
This sax was most recently overhauled by Saxquest, and it still has the feel of a very good overhaul: excellent key fitting, even response, and a quick, comfortable action. The pads are in great condition and sealing well. It's set up with domed rivetless metal resonators.
Selmer tried to recreate the Balanced Action tenor with the Reference 36. The Reference 36 is a great horn, but it's never going to replace a good Balanced Action tenor. This one is nearly 90 years old and still feels completely relevant. It's capable of giving its next owner many decades of playing.
