Selmer Jubilee Series II Alto Saxophone
2012 Selmer Jubilee Series II alto saxophone, s/n 751517. This sax is in great overall condition and shows only slight wear from normal use. It was just serviced by my repairman prior to sale. The pads are in great condition with lots of life left and seal well. The sax is in great overall condition and shows only slight wear from normal use. It comes in the original Selmer case, which is made by BAM France.
The Jubilee is Selmer's update to the Series II, with several refinements to the original design. It has a redesigned octave key, a lighter bell to body brace and slightly longer tone holes to improve response and intonation. Selmer also updated the engraving, which extends across the bell, bow and body. It still sounds and feels like a Series II, but with several meaningful updates to the original design.
The Series II was introduced in 1986 and has now been in production for 40 years, making it one of Selmer's most enduring saxophone designs. It has a rich, centered sound and an even response throughout the range. Compared with earlier Series II altos, I find the Jubilee horns a little more responsive and solid feeling while retaining the familiar Series II sound.
