Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, 206,xxx, 97% Original Lacquer
Here's a remarkable Selmer Paris Mark VI alto saxophone in outstanding physical condition, which has approximately 97% of its original lacquer. The sax was originally purchased by a band director who seldom used it. In fact, before it received its recent overhaul, all of its original pads still remained. The serial number is 206,xxx, which means that it's a later Mark VI, produced in 1972. This run of Mark VI's has a medium bow, which is widely considered the best version and most in tune. The neck is original to the horn. There are no resoldered posts or any evidence of dentwork. This is a very clean horn for its age. The case is an original TriPack case in excellent condition, and both zippers function perfectly. Take a look through the pictures, and you'll even find the original warranty card.
The sax was just overhauled by DC's best repairman, who used top of the line Tenor Madness domed brass resonators. Although this vintage of Mark VI alto originally came with plastic resonators, this horn was "upgraded" with metal resonators to give it a bit of extra pop and projection. The end result is excellent, and the metal resonators give this horn a bit of extra carrying power and smoothness between registers. This is an excellent looking and playing Mark VI.
