Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, 99%+ Original Lacquer, Near Mint, Just Serviced, Video
222,xxx Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone in near mint condition. I acquired this horn from the son of the original owner who played the sax for a year or so before being put back in its case for the next 45+ years. There are no dings or dents, and very few sratches. The neck is also in excellent condition and has never been bent down.
My tech just serviced the sax prior to sale. He replaced the low Eb pad and the octave pip. Otherwise, all of the pads are original and still sealing quite well considering their age. The sax comes in the original Tri-Pack case. Both zippers function properly, but one lead has partially broken off.
This sax still feels like a new Mark VI. The action is tight and efficient, probably the way it felt when it left the factory decades ago. The sound is wonderful. It feels nimble but powerful. It has a focused and compact sound yet with a ton of projection when you push it. I think it would make a great crossover horn that can do both classical and jazz equally well. It’s as easy to make this horn sing with a New York Meyer as it is with a Selmer Concept mouthpiece.
