1964 Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone, s/n 111793. Here's an early 1960's Mark VI tenor that was just serviced prior to sale. My repairman replaced 3 pads, 1 spring, 1 felt and 1 key cork, and regulated the remaining pads so they're sealing well. The horn plays easily from top to bottom.

This Mark VI is from a great vintage. In feel and sound, it's quite similar to the late 5-digit horns. It has a very rich, lush sound with a nice density to it, and it feels easy to push without losing the core. The palm keys and altissimo sound full and responsive. The sax also has the earlier hook and eye side Bb and C mechanism, which Selmer replaced with a ball and socket design around 118,xxx. Many players prefer the hook and eye since it stays quiet over time, whereas the ball and socket version tends to develop play and click as it wears.

The sax doesn't have its original lacquer, but the color is correct for this vintage. It's a gorgeous darker amber. The neck is original and has a matching serial number.
