Selmer Mark VII Tenor Saxophone, Just Serviced
1978 Selmer Mark VII tenor saxophone, s/n 285354. This sax was just serviced by my repairman prior to sale. The previous owner recently replaced the pads, so they seal well and are still in great condition with a lot of life left. The pads have Noyek style resonators, which are metal waffle style resonators. This design offers the most reflection and gives the sax some nice brilliance and projection. The sax has original lacquer with most of it remaining.
This sax arrived at DC Sax with a dent on the bottom bow, sitting right in the middle of the brace. This is a tough spot to work on because the brace is in the way. The proper way to do it is to completely remove the brace, perform the dentwork, reform the brace, then solder it back on. That process is time consuming and expensive, and it takes real skill to get right. We decided to go the distance with this tenor because it was already sounding great and we thought it had a lot of potential. The dent is out, the brace is back on, and everything is sorted. You can see the area of missing lacquer where the dentwork was done, but the horn is back to normal now.
I love how this horn plays. It's set up great, the action feels tight, and I can play easily down to low Bb. The sax comes with a brand new Bam case, which fits the sax perfectly.
