1990 Selmer Series II alto saxophone, s/n 447399. Introduced in 1986 and still in production today, this model has now outlasted even the Mark VI as a continuous model. The Series II has remained a favorite among professionals for its warm, centered sound, excellent projection, great keywork, and consistently high build quality. Selmer has introduced many newer models over the years, but the Series II has continued alongside them, which says a great deal about how successful the original design was.

This example, made in just the fifth year of this model's production, is in really great shape and doesn't look like a sax that's over 25 years old. The finish is in outstanding condition. I see some light scratches around the neck strap ring and below the RH thumb rest. There was a ding removed from the bow. The neck has never been bent down and the bell flare looks perfect. 

My repairman just serviced this sax. He replaced the neck cork and regulated the pads so they seal well. The pads are still in great shape and have a lot of life left. The action feels even and nicely tight. The horn plays like what you'd want out of a Series II: it has a gorgeous even sound and response, great intonation, and it plays effortlessly down to low Bb.
