Yamaha Custom 875EX Alto Saxophone, V1 Neck, Just Serviced
Yamaha Custom YAS-875EX alto saxophone. Here is an early EX Yamaha Custom with a fully numeric serial number. It was purchased around 2006, shortly after the EX was introduced. The EX changed over time -- the first ones have a bit more power and projection, probably more similar to a Selmer Series II but with the excellent Yamaha evenness and response. I know of several professional saxophonists who play on this vintage of Yamaha EX and despite trying newer models including the 875EXII, won't make the switch because of the tremendous sound these possess. I wonder if these EX horns with numeric serial numbers (as opposed to current ones which have a letter prefix, currently C, D and E) will be the future purple label Yamahas. They are outstanding horns which are worthy of your consideration.
I'm selling this one for a friend who is one of the premier classical saxophonists and teachers in the US. This was his longtime horn, and only recently switched to a gold plated EX. The neck is the upgraded V1 model, which is a perfect match for this horn. The sax is in great shape. It was just serviced prior to sale, so the response is perfect and the sax plays effortlessly throughout its entire range.
