Yamaha Custom 875EX II Alto Saxophone, Unlacquered
Yamaha Custom 875EXIIUL. You’ve likely never seen this model before because as far as I know no others exist. In 2016, I custom ordered this sax from Yamaha Japan and they made two for me. I purchased this one after trying both out. As far as I know, the other one was never offered for sale. Of course, Yamaha makes an unlacquered version of the 82Z, but they don’t make an 875EX II with this finish. Compared to the regular lacquered version, this sax has phenomenal power and projection. The sound is more lush and broad than the lacquered version. It’s incredibly even from top to bottom.
This has been my primary personal horn for the last two years. It was a tough choice to offer it for sale, but I recently upgraded to a gold plated 875EXII, so it’s time to let this one go. The condition is nearly perfect. There are no dents and the pads are in excellent shape. It’s been regularly maintained by my tech, and the pads are sealing perfectly. It comes in the original case which I’ve actually never used. If you’re looking for an upgrade to the current model Yamaha Custom, and want a unique saxophone that no one else out there has, this is it.
