Yamaha Purple Label YBS-61 Baritone Saxophone, Low A, Just Serviced
Yamaha YBS-61 baritone saxophone, s/n 6771. This is a 1970s or early 1980s era Yamaha professional baritone saxophone. Introduced in 1969, the YBS-61 was Yamaha’s first professional baritone model and helped establish Yamaha as a serious competitor in the professional saxophone market. Despite its age, the horn feels surprisingly modern. The keywork is excellent, and while it does not have a high F# key, it has the much more important low A key.
My repairman just serviced the sax prior to sale. The pads are in great condition and seal well. The previous owner repadded the sax, and it does not appear to have seen much playing time since.
The neck is in great shape and has never been pulled down. The sax comes in its original case.
